Can't We All Just Disagree?
Even in this moment of deep political and ideological divides in our country, we have fewer opportunities than we might like to come together in dialogue with those who have different points of view. The natural discomfort that many of us feel when we interact with someone who disagrees with us, can prevent us from learning about each other and recognizing the experiences and perspectives that we may even have in common. Building our skills for being in disagreement with others is essential to learning in our classrooms, finding common ground as we work together on our campus, and as we engage with the world around us and the rich array of viewpoints that we hold.

This All Angles session will feature renowned journalist David Greene, former host of National Public Radio's Morning Edition and now creator and host of KCRW's Left, Right, and Center podcast. He will share his experience engaging with people from the widest range of political, geographical, socio-economic, and other perspectives to challenge us all to consider the skills we need to disagree better and navigate the political divisions that we face. He will also connect Pitt student leaders in a panel discussion, exploring the challenges we face in disagreeing and new ways that we can support dialogue and relationship-building.
Food will be served and Out of Classroom credit is available.
