Kayla Henderson

I’m Kayla Henderson, a current junior, originally from Stroudsburg, PA. Throughout my time at Pitt, I have strived to make an impact in my community and on campus. I currently serve as Chapter Director for Strong Women, Strong Girls, a mentoring organization on campus. I am also a member of the Student Government Board’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Additionally, I am involved in the Black Action Society, RISE, and BRIDGES. These organizations have helped strengthened my passion for educational equity and lead me to research educational disparities, both nationally and in the Pittsburgh community. I applied to become an Elsie Hillman Scholar to work to alleviate these issues and as a chance to explore my professional goals while giving back to my community.
