Lauren Posey

Lauren Posey is a junior from Reading, Pennsylvania who is majoring in Environmental Studies. She is also minoring in Studio Arts, collecting a Sustainability certificate, and completing the Honors program. Outside the classroom, Lauren has held positions as both Administrative Chair and Co-President of Free the Planet, an environmental club on campus, and is a member of Epsilon Eta Delta. She has volunteered her time to climate activism efforts and as a classroom assistant with Goodwill, tutoring adult learners in GED courses.

Her previous professional experience includes a climate action planning internship with the Borough of Swissvale, during which she worked with a resident task force to engage the community, analyze greenhouse gas data, and draft an emissions reduction plan. This experience inspired a desire to keep working with communities to generate grassroots climate action and sustainable innovation. Lauren is excited to participate in the Elsie Hillman Honors Scholar program to further these goals and gain insight into the nonprofit sector. In her free time, you can find her spending time outdoors, hiking, reading, sewing, and caring for her large assortment of houseplants.
